So I needed a coat. Happily this coincided with my fannish love of BBC Sherlock.
After studying pictures very carefully, I drafted and tailored my own.
Wool coat, inspired from Sherlock’s Belstaff coat.

I am so, so fucking happy with how it turned out, it beats the cosplay ones sold out of China hands down. Details, details. The cosplay ones are good, and one comes in linen so it’s nice and light, but the buttons on the back of the coat are too far apart, for one. The buttons are the wrong type, as well. STILL.
*Edit - People, there is a coat out there - $160 for linen and $180 for wool. I make no claims. One Tumblr-ite has said the details of the commercial coats are inaccurate, and that fabric was flimsy. I can tell you that they are suspiciously cheap. I only knew that I am peculiarly tall and monkey-armed, I have a love of accurate details, I can sew and I wanted to make my own.
I’ll blog one last post later on the details I tried to get right. But for now - *pets coat* We are very happy together.
